Stirring creative spinal kundalini energy and utilizing traditional bellydance technique, we can bring the full power of the mind/body connection into harmony and transform every area of life! Balance, flow, timing and grace danced into manifestation!
Wednesdays 7:30-8pm 8 week session Jan 9 – Feb 27, 2013 – At Austin Dance Collective
Tribal Fusion Bellydance
Focus on technique drills and group improvisation.
The first 30 minutes of this class are a workout– with formatted bellydance drills that are appropriate for first time bellydancers as well as experts wanting to hone their training regime. Nonstop shimmies, isolations, traveling sequences, ab-strengthening, and flexibility exercises. The second hour of the class is “Hot Pot” Improvisational Tribal Style (ITS): a way to dance improvisationally with your friends, off the cuff, and in total synchronicity! A contemporary style of belly dance, ITS is a structured, improvisational dance form performed in a group. We learn short choreographies and “cues” for these movement sequences so that we can arrange them spontaneously, anywhere, to any music.

Shimmy While You Work: Everyday Training Techniques for the Mad Multi-Tasker
Whether it is 3/4 shimmies while you wash the dishes or glute squeezes in your office chair, we all have a “shimmy while you work” secret training regime. In this workshop April Rose guides the class through several day-to-day and occupation-specific scenarios in which you could be strengthening, drilling, and ultimately improving your dance technique. Work on your patterning skills with a paradiddle while you sit in traffic and practice your balance while you brush your teeth. Expect to dance in this class from beginning to end and leave with a daily routine full of effective and easy-to-remember exercises you can execute from your morning shower to your after dinner clean up. All levels welcome.
